As chairman of the board of The Negotiation Project Twente, I am governing our foundation by drafting new policies and facilitating new initiatives of the board. Our mission is to successfully support students of the University of Twente to partake in several negotiation contests all over the world. Furthermore, I am acquiring business opportunities and facilitating partnerships with third parties for sponsoring and creating business negotiation training sessions and programs.
I believe negotiation and communicational skills are essential for anyone to acquire. We negotiate and communicate in every aspect of our lives, be it work, studies or in personal settings. Hence, in order to grow as an individual, it would be better if these skills are developed. Therefore, together with the others at Negotiation Project Twente (NPT), we recognized value in the ability to disseminate knowledge to other students at the University of Twente. Thus, we established NPT in order to educate and train students to prepare them for their future careers. In addition, we are also in touch with the business environment to seek potential collaboration by offering training sessions, students as potential employees and promotional activities.
My job as the treasurer and board member of NPT is to create, review and sustain our financial and legal policies. Furthermore, I am responsible for the acquisition of sponsors, obtaining funding, developing training programs and attending events for networking. Finally, it is part of my accountability to ensure the variety of tasks within NPT get completed.
My responsibility is, amongst others, to act as the director of the foundation. Furthermore, I have the role as secretary, to ensure that all duties and meetings run smoothly.
Next, within the board activities, we are training for international negotiation challenges. I am very excited to compete against other international teams in Japan and to succeed in my tasks.
Within this team it is my responsibility is to manage the internal affairs of the foundation. However, this is not my only task within this team; I am for example also responsible for keeping the website up-to-date.
During this year I am very excited to learn more about negotiations during our training sessions. Negotiations are a part of everyday life, and gaining more knowledge about negotiations can be beneficial for everyone.
My role within our foundations is to govern the external relationships with our partners. In addition, I also try to keep in touch with students as well as associations connected to the University of Twente.
I am very excited about to learn more about high-stakes negotiation skills because these can be very useful in a lot of situations in a lifetime course. These should be skills that everyone should learn and I am eager to learn more about this during our training sessions with our industry field professional and professor in negotiations!
My name is Sevim Garip and I am 25 years old. I am a Msc Business Administration - Purchasing & Supply Management student.
